As summer heat rises, so do energy bills, and the cost of air conditioning is pushing families to the brink.

Joannet, a single mom in Denver, was doing everything she could to support her daughter when the threat of losing power put their stability at risk. EOC’s timely bill payment assistance helped her keep the power on when she needed it most.

Thousands of Colorado families are just one energy bill away from crisis, but you can help change that. Give today: https://na2.hubs.ly/H05NGKw0

🔍 Takeaway #7 from our new research on energy affordability: Participant trust is built through clarity, continuity, and local partnership. Clear communication and collaboration with trusted community organizations are essential.

"The one thing that I'm always advocating for is that we make [community members] part of the conversation, part of the solution, not just part of the challenge," said Maritza Gutierrez, who leads our Participant Support & Education program.

🔍 Takeaway #6 from our new research on energy affordability: Targeted action by energy providers and local government can reduce energy insecurity. Specific steps include targeted protections, advance notice of bill spikes, and exemptions from surge pricing.

"I understand we have to pay for things," said EOC participant Savanna. "But there has to be a way that [utility companies] can make it sustainable for them as well as us."
