Safety planning is crucial for anyone experiencing gender-based violence. While many people prepare safety plans to exit an abusive situation, a safety plan can also help you while living in an abusive situation, if exit isn't possible or imminent.

It may include:
• Trusted contacts
• Emergency documents
• Safe meeting places (especially if you have children)
• Transportation plans
• Important phone numbers

Safety planning can't guarantee your safety, but it can give you some peace of mind to know you have a plan in place.
