Be prepared! Sign up for emergency alerts through Alert Aurora, powered by RAVE/Smart911. National Preparedness Month is a great time to sign up to receive important, even lifesaving, alerts sent directly to your phone and/or email.

You can choose to receive notifications via landline, cellphone, email, text message or a combination. These alerts can be specific to streets, neighborhoods or regions, so by providing an address, you will receive only those notifications that are most important to you.

Join us as we recognize and celebrate indigenous communities at Aurora’s Indigenous Peoples’ Day Celebration, happening from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, at the Aurora Municipal Center lobby, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway.

Enjoy traditional music, dance performances and snacks as the city honors the cultural heritage and contributions of indigenous communities. This free event is open to all, and no registration is required.

The Aurora City Council will meet today, Sept. 28, at the Aurora Municipal Center, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway, for a Study Session at 4:25 p.m. and a Regular Meeting at 6 p.m. There will also be an Executive Session at 5:35 p.m. The Study Session and Regular Meeting can be viewed in the Paul Tauer City Council Chamber, at AuroraTV.org, on Comcast 8/880 in Aurora, or via the AuroraTV streaming app. View the meeting agendas at AuroraGov.org/CouncilMeetings.

The public is welcome to comment on agenda-related items during the Regular Meeting by signing up no later than 1 p.m. Sept. 28 at AuroraGov.org/PublicComment. The 2026 Contractor Education and Networking Summit is less than a month away!

The iconic arches were installed this week for the signature Havana Station for the East Colfax Bus Rapid Transit project. The city hosted a watch party as the pieces went up at Havana Street and Colfax Avenue.

The two arches are part of the project spanning from Denver to Aurora, upgrading bus service along the corridor for thousands of travelers.

Aurora At Large Council Members Alison Coombs, Curtis Gardner, Alli Jackson and Rob Andrews will host a virtual Town Hall Meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, on Microsoft Teams. In addition to general updates, the meeting topics will be the 2027 city budget, the Americans with Disabilities Act and accessibility issues, and proposed gas station buffers.
