BREAKING: Colorado Common Cause just went to court to stop Donald Trump’s Department of Justice from seizing your private voter information.
Trump’s DOJ is suing our state to force Secretary of State Jena Griswold to turn over the state’s entire voter registration database — including names, addresses, birthdates, and even partial Social Security and driver’s license numbers.
This is a massive invasion of privacy that puts every Colorado voter at risk.
Trump has spent years spreading baseless claims about voter fraud. Now, he’s ordering the Department of Justice to back those lies up by vacuuming up your personal information and mine – so he can justify voter purges, intimidate opponents, or manipulate elections.
Now we’re in court to stop him, represented by the ACLU of Colorado. We’d also like to thank the Interfaith Alliance of Colorado and the Rocky Mountain NAACP State Conference CO-MT-WY for their efforts to help build the strongest case possible.
Colorado Common Cause joined this case because we know how dangerous it would be to hand this data over to a federal government that’s already shown it’s willing to use power for political retaliation.
