An American Classical Education
Ascent Classical Academy Northern Colorado is a tuition free, K-12 charter public school which will open with grades K-6 in the fall of 2020 in Fort Collins, CO. The school is a classical, liberal arts school and uses the Core Knowledge sequence in grades K-8. The content-rich academic program is continued through the Upper School, which increasingly utilizes primary source documents and Socratic discussions. Grammar School classes rely on teacher-led, direct instruction. As a classical school, Ascent Classical Academy is committed to a strong mastery of our language, with a focus on grammar, spelling, cursive handwriting, and overall penmanship. All students take Latin beginning in 6th grade through at least 9th grade to obtain a deeper and more thorough understanding of the English language and to enhance their ability to acquire and master other languages. This school is collaborating with the Barney Charter School Initiative at Hillsdale College and is a replication of Golden View Classical Academy in Golden, CO and Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County in Lone Tree, CO.
