The Center for Work Ethic Development

The Center for Work Ethic Development The Center for Work Ethic Development is the nation’s only institution focusing on work ethic to drive organizational profit and individual success.

Work ethic is a trainable set of values and behaviors that when aligned drive sustained performance. It’s not only working harder, it’s working with purpose. Founded by award winning author and speaker Eric Chester, The Center for Work Ethic Development is restoring American work ethic. We provide engaging and interactive training based on the seven values of work ethic: positivity, reliability, p

rofessionalism, initiative, integrity, respect for authority, and gratitude. These values, combined with our unique support materials, certification, and thought leadership reinforce behavioral change for long-term results. The bottom line? Employees are motivated to exceed customers’ expectations and produce organizational profit. Appearance is so much more than the clothes you wear— it's the way you carry yourself, your hygiene, and your facial expression. While we're all taught to not judge a book by its cover, the ability to make a good first impression is an asset in the workforce. Consider the dress code and the professional culture at your workplace and adapt your personal style to match the brand of your company.

More and more employers are investing in "upskilling" their employees, or investing in their long-term success at their companies by providing them access to skill-based training. While many of these skills are technology or system-based, upskilling employees on skills associated with work-ethic has enormous potential to improve both employer and employee satisfaction.

Developing a culture of trust is fundamental to building a thriving workplace. The model of trust established by Reina and Reina (2015) determined that trust has three components:
1. Capability trust is trust in someone's understanding, ability, knowledge, and skills.
2. Character trust is the belief that others will fulfill their obligations.
3. Communication trust encompasses the open sharing of information, truthfulness, admission of errors, and confidentiality.

These types of trust resonate strongly with the work ethic skills of ambition, attendance, appreciation, and especially accountability. How can you cultivate these skills to build trust in your workplace?
