Town of Superior, Colorado - Government Welcome to the official page of the Town of Superior, Colorado! Glad You're Here! It grew from about 250 people in 1990 to nearly 12,000 today.

The Town of Superior is a statutory town located in southeast Boulder County. It boast grand open space and close proximity to Boulder and Denver. Superior's history is one of coal mining. The first mines in the area were developed in the late 1800's. The Town itself was founded in 1896 and incorporated in 1904. The Town reportedly was named after the "superior" quality of coal found in the area.

Mining was the major force in Superior's history until the Industrial Mine closed in 1945. Subsequently, many people moved out of the area and the Town evolved into a quiet ranching and farming community. In the 1990s the Rock Creek Subdivision was built resulting in an increase in population making the Town of Superior what it is today. From 1987 through 2006 approximately 2,700 single-family homes and 1,800 multi-family homes have been developed. Future development plans of the Town include commercial development, retail development, multi-family residential units, and single family homes. The Town is approximately four square miles in area has 540 acres of park and open space, 25 miles of trails and two outdoor pools. There is one elementary school and one K-8 school. Superior’s residents are well-educated, largely professional people who value its natural setting, advantageous location and outdoor activities.

• Monday through Friday: 4 to 8 p.m.
• Saturday and Sunday: 11 a.m. to 8 a.m.

South Pool (3300 Huron Peak Ave.)
Open until Friday, Sept. 7

• Monday through Friday: 4 to 8 p.m.
• Saturday and Sunday: 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Rock Creek Parkway and South 88th Street are opening this evening, Aug. 11, and will be open for back-to-school traffic tomorrow, Aug. 12. Construction on South Indiana near Eldorado PK-8 is complete, and the road is open.

Lane markings for the South 88th Street and Rock Creek Parkway intersection have not been completed yet. Please proceed through this section with caution! As you navigate these intersections, please follow all posted signage and yield to bikes and pedestrians.
