This morning, Hickory Fire Department experienced a tragic loss of a firefighter while on duty. The firefighter had a medical emergency and was transported to a local hospital, where the firefighter was pronounced deceased.

The City of Hickory mourns the loss of this firefighter and is working with the family to honor their wishes during this difficult time. No further details will be released at this time. Additional information will be shared as it becomes available.

Alexis Fire Department would like to extend our gratitude and thanks to the Joshua Lee Warren Foundation for the grant, which allowed us to purchase two additional Lifepak 1000 AED's and two additional fully stocked medical jump bags. These have been placed in service, and every apparatus now has an identical complement of medical supplies. These supplies are pictured in front of Engine 200, which is dedicated to Alexis fallen firefighter and namesake of the foundation, Joshua Lee Warren.

During the recent Lincoln County Fireman Association meeting at North 321 Fire Department, the Foundation had the pleasure of announcing four grants to deserving fire departments in Lincoln County. We are incredibly grateful to Kim, Kelsey, and Max for their assistance in presenting these awards, as well as Board members Jesse Freeman, Michelle Paget, and President Gary Farmer. These grants play a vital role in helping fire departments supplement funding that may not be readily available to them. Giving back in Josh Warren's name is a privilege for us, and the community should also take pride in making these contributions possible. It is worth noting that to date, the foundation has generously provided over Thirty Nine Thousand dollars to area fire departments.

On this day, eight years ago, we sadly lost Joshua Lee Warren, a dedicated member of our community, in the line of duty. Coincidentally, it is also Father's Day today. In honor of Joshua, we are pleased to announce that we are able to award grants to four area fire departments in his name. We believe that by giving back to the community he served, we can honor his memory and the selfless service he provided.

The grants are as follows:

1. East Lincoln Fire - $3,557.75
Grant: Rescue 42 Junior Engine Combo - 1 Set

2. Howards Creek - $3,000.00
Grant: Cardiac Science AED (2500), Medical Bag (250), Medical Supplies (250)

3. Alexis - $2,742.65
Grant: LifePak 1000 AED

4. Union - $1,748.49
Grant: Powerheart G5 AED and Pads

We hope that these grants will support the fire departments in their efforts to serve and protect the community, just as Joshua did. Though he may be gone, he will never be forgotten.

Bradley's unwavering commitment to duty and his selflessness serve as an inspiration to us all. He will forever be remembered for his courage, integrity, and the impact he made on the lives of those around him.
