Construction is officially underway at Creekside Flats on the border of West Denver and Jefferson County, a future community of 150 new affordable homes!
DOLA joined Archway Communities today to break ground on the future community at the site of the former Jody Apartments. DOLA’s Division of Housing invested $1.95 million toward the project’s construction with a Housing Development Grant.
“What DOLA sees in Creekside Flats is a model for how to transform a building in disrepair into dignified homes that serve the people who keep our city and our state thriving,” DOLA Executive Director Maria De Cambra remarked at the groundbreaking. She further noted that the project stood out to DOLA because of its strategic design, commitment to families, and holistic approach to community health.
DOLA staff Theresa Cassano, Sasha Neal, and Shannon Gray joined Director De Cambra onsite for the ceremony, and DOH team members Shirley Diaz and Andrew Kaczka also played major roles in the project.
Thank you again to all partners who saw this vision through, and to today’s speakers: Laura Brudzynski (President and CEO, Archway Communities), The City of Denver Mayor Mike Johnston, Thomas Bryan (Executive Director and CEO, Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA)), Jefferson County Colorado Government Commissioner Rachel Zenzinger for Colorado, and Autumn Buehler (Director of Property Operations, Urban Land Conservancy).
