Growing with purpose. Building for the future. 💜

By 2018, more survivors were turning to the Rose Andom Center for safety, resources, and support. With that growth came an important responsibility: making sure the quality, compassion, and collaboration at the heart of our work grew with us.

That year, the Center expanded its leadership team and invested in program oversight, development, and long-term sustainability. This wasn't growth for growth's sake. It was about building a strong foundation that would allow us to meet growing needs while keeping survivors at the center of every decision.

Behind every service is a person. Behind every connection to resources is a team. And behind every step forward is a community committed to making sure survivors do not have to navigate their journey alone.

This week, our 10-year anniversary series continues with Chapter 4: 2018, Growing with Purpose. We're looking back at a year that strengthened the people, leadership, and foundation behind the Rose Andom Center's work.

We’re excited to welcome Community Economic Defense Project (CEDP) as a new partner at the Rose Andom Center! 💜 Community Economic Defense Project

Beginning September 8, CEDP will provide monthly on-site support at the Rose Andom Center, helping survivors and families navigate housing and economic resources based on their individual needs.

CEDP is a statewide Colorado nonprofit that works alongside low-income and working people facing housing instability and other economic challenges. Depending on eligibility and available funding, their support may include housing and resource navigation, rental assistance, housing counseling, legal services, public benefits, utility assistance, and connections to other essential resources.

By bringing CEDP’s expertise directly to the Rose Andom Center, we can make it easier for survivors to connect with resources in a trusted, survivor-centered environment while strengthening coordination between services.

We’re grateful to welcome CEDP into our community of partners and look forward to working together to reduce barriers and support greater safety, housing stability, and long-term economic security for survivors.

This week, the Rose Andom Center joined Denver public safety leaders and community partners for the official distribution of the Denver County Strangulation Response Protocol, marking an important step forward in Denver’s coordinated response to domestic violence and sexual assault.

Denver has a longstanding commitment to ensuring survivors receive a coordinated, survivor-centered response. The Denver County Strangulation Response Protocol builds on that commitment by establishing a consistent, multidisciplinary approach to identifying, documenting, and responding to strangulation cases across law enforcement, healthcare, advocacy, prosecution, and other community partners.

Strangulation is a particularly dangerous and often invisible form of violence. Victims can experience serious or life-threatening injuries even when there are no visible signs of harm, and nonfatal strangulation is an important risk factor for future serious violence and homicide. Early recognition and informed intervention can be critical to survivor safety.

The protocol helps ensure professionals across agencies understand the risks associated with strangulation and have clear guidance for screening, documentation, survivor education, safety planning, and accountability. The signing event brought partners together to recognize the importance of this shared approach and reaffirm Denver’s commitment to improving safety and outcomes for survivors.

We are incredibly grateful to the many community organizations, government agencies, advocates, medical professionals, law enforcement partners, prosecutors, and other experts who helped bring this protocol to life. Your collaboration and expertise are helping strengthen Denver’s response to strangulation and create a safer, more coordinated system for survivors.

1,200+ survivors. 1,200+ unique stories. One community committed to making a difference. 💜

By the end of 2017, more than 1,200 survivors had come through the doors of the Rose Andom Center seeking safety, support, and a path forward.

Each survivor arrived with different experiences and needs, but they no longer had to navigate complicated systems alone. Through coordinated, trauma-informed services and the dedication of our staff and community partners, survivors could access advocacy, legal assistance, healthcare, and other critical resources in one safe and welcoming place.

Most importantly, survivors told us they felt believed. Safe. Seen.

This week, our 10-year anniversary series continues with Chapter 3: 2017, Growing Our Impact. We're looking back at a year that showed what was possible when agencies, advocates, and our community worked together with survivors at the center of it all.

On Thursday, October 1, join the Rose Andom Center for our Domestic Violence Awareness Month Walk as we come together to honor survivors, raise awareness, and show our community's collective support for those impacted by domestic violence.

Beginning at the Rose Andom Center, survivors, advocates, community leaders, and supporters will walk together in solidarity, taking steps toward a future where everyone can live free from abuse. Participants will also have the opportunity to hear powerful remarks and survivor stories and connect with others committed to making a difference.

Whether you identify as a survivor, know and love a survivor, or simply want to stand in support, you are invited to walk with us.

🎤 Meet the Emcee for Reflections of Hope!

We’re excited to welcome Reggie Rivers as the emcee for the Rose Andom Center’s Reflections of Hope 10th Anniversary Gala on Saturday, October 17!

Reggie is the Founder and President of The Gala Team and a talented, quick-witted Master of Ceremonies and Benefit Auctioneer who has helped nonprofits raise tens of millions of dollars. Many in Denver may also recognize him as a former Denver Broncos running back, where he played from 1991 to 1996 and was twice named the Broncos NFL Man of the Year in recognition of his commitment to the community.

With a career spanning professional football, journalism, radio, television, writing, and nonprofit fundraising, Reggie knows how to bring people together around a meaningful cause. We’re thrilled to have him guide us through this milestone evening as we celebrate 10 years of hope, healing, and support for survivors. 💜

The doors are open. Hope begins. 💜

In June 2016, the Rose Andom Center officially opened its doors, becoming Colorado's first Family Justice Center and forever changing how survivors of domestic violence could access support.

What started as a bold vision became a place where survivors could find safety, compassion, and coordinated services all under one roof. It was the beginning of a new chapter, not only for the Rose Andom Center, but for thousands of survivors and families across our community.

Have you experienced firearm-related harm in a past relationship? Your story could help shape a better understanding of intimate partner violence and support future research.

The INSiGHT (Interviews with Survivors of Gun-Related Harm and Threat) study is seeking adults in the Denver metro area to participate in a confidential, one-on-one virtual interview about their experiences. Participants may earn up to $75 for their time through a 90-minute interview and two brief follow-up surveys.
