Fremont County Commissioner, Western Interstate Region President and CCI Public Lands Chair, Dwayne McFall, seated at the head of the table, travelled to Washington DC to advocated for the continued funding of PILT. PILT is critical for the states with public lands (about 36% of Colorado is federally owned public land).

Western county leaders were on the ground in Washington, D.C., this week, telling the story of America's public lands counties.

In meetings with federal agency officials and congressional offices, participants made the case for permanent Payments in Lieu of Taxes funding and emphasized the importance of strong county and federal partnership.
