Each takes a different approach to making room for people and nature in our city, from more shade and gathering spaces along 16th Street, to turning a future development site into a neighborhood park, to planning for Ballpark’s everyday life beyond game day. Together, they reflect our belief in Humanature™ and the possibilities that grow from bringing different perspectives to the table.
Thank you to our clients, partners, and everyone who helped shape these projects. It was a great night to celebrate the work and spend time with our team and colleagues.

Gretchen’s commitment to landscape architecture has reached two major milestones.

At the 2026 American Society of Landscape Architects Conference in Los Angeles, Dig Studio Principal and Co-Founder Gretchen Wilson was sworn in as ASLA president and recognized as a member of its 2026 Council of Fellows, one of the profession’s highest honors.

Gretchen steps into the presidency with decades of experience, a deep commitment to mentorship and a belief in the power of landscape architecture to create meaningful change. Her election to the Council of Fellows recognizes her contributions to community-centered design, environmental stewardship and the profession.

We’re incredibly proud to see her represent Dig and help lead the profession forward. Congratulations, Gretchen!

Built for the desert, designed for daily campus life. 🌵

At Lantana Hall Arizona State University Polytechnic, the landscape extends the existing campus fabric while creating a network of outdoor spaces for gathering, studying, moving through campus and simply spending time outside.

Behind those everyday moments is a landscape working hard. Roof water is collected and expressed throughout the site, bioswales direct stormwater to legacy trees, and a water quality garden incorporates recycled concrete-filled gabion walls. Shade and desert-responsive planting further shape an environment designed for Mesa’s climate.

The entire site is 100% self-retained, bringing resilience, responsibility and social connection together in one landscape.

The next act at Loretto Heights starts here. 🎭

We recently joined community members and project partners to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Loretto Heights Cultural Hub in southwest Denver.

The project will transform the historic campus into a place where arts, culture and community come together, with renovated spaces and an outdoor campus designed to support gathering, performances, events and daily activity.

For Dig Studio, the work is about creating a landscape that connects these experiences while making the campus welcoming, active and rooted in the community it serves.

We’re proud to work alongside the The City and County of Denver, Denver Arts & Venues, Theatre Projects and the full project team. A milestone worth celebrating, and an exciting new chapter for a place with so much history.

How do you give a 60-year-old park a new life without losing what made it meaningful in the first place?

That was the challenge behind the reimagining of Pioneer Park in City of Mesa, Arizona Government.

Rather than starting over, the design builds on the elements the community already valued while introducing new reasons to come back. An elevated walkway winds through the tree canopy, connecting a multi-level playground and creating a rare experience in the Arizona desert. A central shade structure and splash pad bring activity to the heart of the park, while gathering spaces support concerts, festivals, food trucks and community traditions.

Today, the 18-acre park carries its history forward while creating more ways for a new generation to play, gather and make it their own.

Proud to have worked alongside the City of Mesa, Architekton and Wright Engineering Corporation to bring a new chapter of Pioneer Park to the community.

A place to pause during the day. A shaded spot to meet a friend. A plaza filled with people for a concert or community event. 🤝

Novus Place at Novus Innovation Corridor was designed to make room for all of it. Developed by Banbury Development on Arizona State University-owned property, the mixed-use district is creating new opportunities in Tempe to work, live, gather and spend time outdoors.

The 19-acre public realm creates a pedestrian-first environment through shaded plazas, promenades, a central green and flexible gathering spaces. Movable furnishings, integrated lighting and a large ramada allow the space to adapt throughout the day, supporting everyday activity alongside larger events and community programming.

That flexibility allows Novus Place to serve as both a gateway to the district and a welcoming public space shaped around how people move, gather and spend time there.

Congratulations to Dig Studio Principal and Co-Founder Gretchen Wilson on being featured in an LSU College of Art + Design Alumni Spotlight!

The feature celebrates Gretchen's career, her recent election to the 2026 ASLA Council of Fellows, one of the profession's highest honors and her upcoming service as 2027 ASLA President. It also offers a thoughtful look at the values that have guided her work including collaboration, community engagement and designing places that improve both people and the environment.
