First attracted to the Rockies for sport, mountaineer and amateur archaeologist Frederick Chapin was one of the first outsiders to be shown the ancient cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde, newly discovered by Colorado homesteaders. His investigations, conducted in 1889 and 1890, resulted in this book, which includes interpretations of the region's archaeology and history that are still valid today.

If you receive paper copies of the order form without the patron contact section, please keep the Free Matter envelope in which it was mailed and use the return address on the envelope in lieu of any missing information on the order form.

The three “breakout” order forms for Adult, Children and International Language were not impacted.

Spanish-language website

The National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) has launched a Spanish-language website to help connect Spanish speakers to our large and growing collection of books and magazines in Spanish. Readers with low vision or blindness, or a disability that prevents them from using regular print materials, can get information about NLS, apply for service, and find resources and library materials in Spanish with ease.
