After more than 60 years without a major upgrade, improvements to Interstate 270 are officially underway. Yesterday’s groundbreaking marked a major milestone for the corridor carrying more than 100,000 vehicles daily.

The Adams County Board of Commissioners joined Governor Jared Polis, federal and state transportation leaders, and regional partners to celebrate the start of construction. Over the next seven years, this project will replace 12 aging bridges, improve safety and traffic flow, add express lanes, and strengthen connections for people walking, biking, and using public transportation.

Thank you to everyone who spoke up and helped move this work forward. We will continue advocating for our communities and working with our partners toward a safer, more connected transportation system for everyone who depends on this corridor.

The doors are open at the Greyhound Head Start and we are ready to celebrate!

The new Head Start Greyhound location is already serving Adams County children this school year, providing a place for young learners to learn, grow, and build a strong foundation for their future.

Now, we’re celebrating with a ribbon cutting! We would like to invite our community to join us as we officially recognize this new addition to Adams County and Commerce City with county leadership, project partners Delwest and Wold Architects and Engineers, a facility tour, and more!

Employee spotlight! 🌟

For the past two years, Andy Mrkvicka, a supervisor on the Adams County Children and Family Services team, has volunteered to perform puppet shows at Back-to-School events for Adams County Head Start programs. Each year, he has put on approximately 6–8 puppet shows at various Head Start locations throughout the county.

Andy’s puppet shows provide a fun and engaging opportunity for children and their parents to spend time together while promoting laughter, connection, and learning. His willingness to volunteer his time and bring joy to these events is a wonderful example of the positive impact we can have when we engage with the families and communities we serve.
