Dear Bowling,
Thank you. For everything. For the adrenaline rush, the friendships, and the countless experiences that shaped me into who I am today. You’ve always given me something to look forward to, a reason to push harder, and a chance to improve. You’ve also been quick to knock me down when I needed it - just to remind me to stay humble and grateful for the good times.
You’ve taught me so much more than just how to throw a ball. You taught me that hard work pays off, and that lesson goes far beyond the lanes. Growing up with you, I matured faster, gained life experience, and learned what it means to truly dedicate myself to something.
You gave me the courage to leave my whole life and family in Poland and move to the U.S. to join a college bowling team. As a 19-year-old with shaky English, I would’ve never had the guts to do that if it weren’t for my love for you. You made me brave.
Thank you for protecting my heart when people didn’t take my bowling seriously, when international medals and achievements were brushed off like they didn’t matter. Everything feels stupid when it’s failing, but somehow I made you my lifestyle and my way to make a living. You don’t seem so stupid anymore to all those high school peers and teachers who doubted me.
Thank you for everything, Bowling. You’ve given me a life I’m proud of.
And because of that, I will always stand behind those with big dreams - the ones others try to tear down. I’m not afraid to speak up or face the negativity that sometimes exists in our sport. To anyone feeling disheartened, I want you to know: what you do matters. No amount of hate, doubt, or laughter should ever stop you. It didn’t stop me, and it shouldn’t stop you either. Other people’s opinions don’t define your worth or your potential.
Bowling has taught me resilience, and I hope to pass that on to others. Dream big, work hard, and never let the noise of others drown out your passion. Because if you stay true to yourself, there’s nothing you can’t achieve.
Keep going. Always.
Love,
