Paul Bunyan – A Tall Tale with Music is the program for September's Family Book Celebration on Thursday, September 17th at 4 pm

What happens when one of America’s greatest tall tales meets the magic of live music? Come meet Paul Bunyan—the legendary giant lumberjack—and discover a story filled with adventure, humor, larger-than-life characters, and music!

The Front Range Chamber Players presents Paul Bunyan – A Tall Tale with Music, a lively musical adventure featuring a narrator accompanied by violins, viola, cello, and bass. Through
storytelling and music, audiences will follow the legendary Paul Bunyan and his extraordinary adventures while discovering the unique sounds and personalities of the instruments in the string
family.

From Paul’s legendary strength to his larger-than-life adventures, the story comes alive through the voices of the musicians and the rich, expressive sounds of the string quartet and bass. Music
helps paint the scenes, create the characters, build the excitement, and bring this American folk legend to life. Whether you already know the stories of Paul Bunyan or are meeting this legendary lumberjack for the first time, Paul Bunyan – A Tall Tale with Music offers something for everyone.

Children can enjoy the adventure and humor while discovering how individual musical instruments work together to tell a story. Adults will enjoy the nostalgic charm of a classic American tall tale presented in an engaging concert setting.

Come hear the story. Listen for the music. And decide for yourself: how much of the Paul Bunyan legend could possibly be true?
A perfect concert experience for families, young listeners, and anyone who loves a good tall tale!

Check out this graphic novel recommendation for kids and adults which has some of the history behind the story!

Family Day of Play! Wednesday, July 29th at 3 p.m. Please note: We are watching the weather and if it is 90 degrees or hotter we will modify our plans and move our day of play inside! This could mean staggering our activities including taking turns offering our Granny Pants beach ball game and painting with Sphero robots. We may bop outside for a few minutes to throw some water balloons at the end of the program (3:50ish?) Thanks for being flexible with us as we deal with this heat! Freezer pops will be available if we are inside or outside! We hope to see our families at the library for this last special summer program!

What is Laughter Yoga? Why should I attend sessions at the library?

No Yoga mats are needed. Tara, librarian at Park Hill Branch Library is leading these sessions. She has taken training in Laughter Yoga and it shows! According to the Laughter Yoga International website (https://www.laughteryoga.org):

"Laughter Yoga is a scientifically proven approach to improving physical, emotional, and mental well-being. By combining laughter exercises with deep yogic breathing techniques, it stimulates the body and mind in ways that conventional fitness or relaxation methods often cannot."

This post has been written by Dawn (librarian also at Park Hill Branch) I have attended several of these sessions and I hope to continue to keep laughing in the library - I hope you join us!

Family session: kids and their adults on Wednesday, July 1st at 3 pm Adults session: Wednesday, July 8th, 11 am

Bonus: July 1st - every child can choose a free book to keep!
Extra Bonus - it counts towards your child's summer reading gameboard activities also!
