Staffing Matters. Response Time Matters.
This afternoon, Deptford Township Career Staff responded to a reported house fire on Craig Drive. With career personnel on duty, 19 firefighters, including the Battalion Chief and Fire Marshals, immediately responded to the incident. The first and second-due engines arrived on scene within 5 minutes, followed by a fourth fully staffed apparatus within 7 minutes of the initial dispatch.
The availability of fully staffed career crews allowed firefighters to rapidly assess the situation, initiate fireground operations, and bring the incident under control shortly after their arrival.
Incidents such as this demonstrate the importance of maintaining adequate, readily available staffing. Every minute matters during a structure fire. Having trained firefighters already in the station and prepared to respond provides a critical advantage in protecting lives, property, and the community.
This incident is a direct example of what Deptford Township tax dollars provide: trained, professional firefighters available 24/7 to respond when our residents need them most.
Staffing matters. Response time matters. Most importantly, both directly impact the safety and protection of our residents.
