Staffing Matters. Response Time Matters.

This afternoon, Deptford Township Career Staff responded to a reported house fire on Craig Drive. With career personnel on duty, 19 firefighters, including the Battalion Chief and Fire Marshals, immediately responded to the incident. The first and second-due engines arrived on scene within 5 minutes, followed by a fourth fully staffed apparatus within 7 minutes of the initial dispatch.

The availability of fully staffed career crews allowed firefighters to rapidly assess the situation, initiate fireground operations, and bring the incident under control shortly after their arrival.

Incidents such as this demonstrate the importance of maintaining adequate, readily available staffing. Every minute matters during a structure fire. Having trained firefighters already in the station and prepared to respond provides a critical advantage in protecting lives, property, and the community.

This incident is a direct example of what Deptford Township tax dollars provide: trained, professional firefighters available 24/7 to respond when our residents need them most.

Staffing matters. Response time matters. Most importantly, both directly impact the safety and protection of our residents.

DEPTFORD TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS PLEASE READ IN REGARDS TO LAST NIGHTS FIRE

Attached to the post is a homeowner watching the place he’s lived in for the past 22 years go up in flames. It is only intended to show change is needed for the taxpayers of this town. We’ve had some concerned citizens ask the questions along with Local Members that live in town aside from working for Deptford Township

Earlier today, Deptford Township Career Staff assigned to Engine 931 responded into Washington Township to assist for a working building fire. At the same time, one of Washington Township’s staffed companies was already committed to assisting Mantua Township on another working fire, while Tower 10 remained in Washington Township to provide local coverage. Deptford Township Career Staff continued to keep three pieces of apparatus staffed and in service to protect our own community.

Today’s incidents are a perfect example of why maintaining multiple staffed apparatus with 24-hour coverage is so important. Emergencies don’t happen one at a time, and having the personnel and resources available ensures that mutual aid can be provided without sacrificing the safety and protection of our own residents.
