April 2026 Emergency Response Report!

April was another busy month for Ward 6 Fire Protection District #1. The department responded to 31 calls for service that included the following:

Motor Vehicle Crash - 10
Dispatched and Cancelled - 7
Structure Fire - 3
Grass Fire - 2
Accidental Alarm - 2
Wildland Fires - 3
Rail Bridge Fire - 1
Utility Infrastructure Fire -1
Malfunctioning Fire Alarm - 1
Room and Contents Fire - 1

The department has responded to a total of 170 calls for the year.

Volunteer firefighter staffing is still a concern for volunteer department across the nation. Ward 6 Fire currently has many volunteer openings for firefighters, non-suppression support personnel, and citizens within our community that may have particular skills that will assist the department. Skills regularly needed are small engine maintenance and repair, minor mechanical repairs or vehicle maintenance. If you have interest, you can visit our website at www.ward6fire.com and complete the applicant interest card.

You may also see our fire trucks and vehicles in the community, each vehicle has a QR code on it that can be scanned to access our volunteer applicant portal.

Vehicle Crash Hwy 27 at Pine Forest Rd.

At 6:19am, Ward Six Fire Protection District No. One responded to a single vehicle crash involving a commercial vehicle at Hwy 27 and Pine Forest.

On arrival of Command Unit 901, a large crane truck was observed flipped on its side. The driver was still inside and unable to self extricate. Two passengers were able to self extricate and suffered minor injuries.

Firefighters removed the front windshield and extricated the driver. Acadian Ambulance transported the driver to the hospital for medical treatment.

Firefighters assisted with closing Pine Forest Road until the vehicle could be uprighted and removed.

The shortage of volunteer firefighters across the nation leads to new volunteer firefighter recruitment campaign.

In light of recent sightings in and around our fire protection area, Ward 6 Fire Protection District #1 gears up for a new wave of volunteer firefighter recruits.
