Derry NH Republican Town Committee The Derry Republican Town Committee elects its Officers and is structured by its Charter and Bylaws. The Chairman shall be the chief executive officer.

The Derry Republican Committee is one of three city/town committees that has a seat on the New Hampshire Republican State Committee Executive Committee and is considered a model of how a local committee should be organized. Through the Committee's efforts the citizens of the Town of Derry have consistently registered and voted Republican. Derry has been a source of strong support to both National

and State Republican candidates. In addition to local activities, the Derry Republican Committee is known for its help and backing of other local and county committees, volunteering in Republican candidates' elections across the State and for its voice on the State Committee and at the State Convention. Article 1: The Derry Republican Town Committee shall be comprised of the Chairman and such other Republicans registered in the town as the town committee shall, by the adoption of these Bylaws, determine. In order to qualify for voting membership, a member must be a member of good standing, a registered Republican, reside in, or be a taxpayer, or business owner in the town of Derry, attend a minimum of 4 meeting’s within the past year, and (pay their dues). In addition, should a Derry Republican candidate run against his/her fellow candidate in a general election, either by write-in, or by changing to a political party other than the Republican Party, the candidate will not receive support (financial or otherwise) from the Derry Republican Town Committeee for a period of thirty months. In cooperation with the State Committee and the County Committee, the Town Committee shall have responsibility for all of the affairs of the Republican Party in Derry. At least one regular meeting shall be held per quarter in each calendar year, Officers shall be elected at the regular December meeting in even numbered years, after the biennial election. If in any biennial election year such regular meeting is not held between the primary and state convention, then an additional regular meeting shall be held between said primary and the state convention. If a regular meeting is not held, then it shall be the duty of the State Party Chairman to set a date for said meeting. A meeting must be held, in accordance with the NH Republican State Committee Bylaws, in December following the biennial elections, to elect officers of the Derry Republican Town Committee, to serve for the next two-year period, and to elect or appoint the members to represent the Derry Republican Committee at the County Committee and the State Committee. Meetings may be called by the Town Chairman at his own initiative or upon the written request of ten persons or ten percent of the members of the committee, whichever is lower. Notice of all meetings shall be mailed to each member, at his last known address, or by email to his last know email address, at least five days before the day of the meeting, or published at least once, or five days before said meeting, in a newspaper of general circulation. Article 2: The officers shall consist of a Chairman, Vice Chairman. Officers shall be elected for two-year terms at least five days prior to the State Committee meeting where officers are elected. The State Committee meeting is typically held in January of the year immediately following the biennial elections. He will see that the committee maintains complete records and an up-to-date list of all registered Republicans in the town. He will file the annual activities report with the County Chairman. The Vice Chairman, shall assist the Chairman in the performance of his duties and, in absence of the Chair shall preside at meetings. The Vice Chairman shall act as a liaison between the Derry Republican Committee and other Republican Clubs. The Treasurer shall have the general charge of the financial affairs of the committee. The Secretary shall keep record of all proceedings of the committee and of all subcommittees and shall perform the duties and assume the responsibilities usual to the office of Secretary. The Executive Committee shall consist of all the officers above named plus any additional members which the committee shall deem necessary and proper. The executive committee shall have the authority to act for the full committee when the full committee is not in session. The Executive Committee shall meet upon the call of the Chairman. The Executive Committee shall have the power to appoint an Operations Committee of a size to be determined by the Executive Committee. The persons so appointed shall serve until the next election of officers. The Operations Committee shall meet upon the call of the Chairman and shall assist the Chairman and Executive Committee whenever needed in the planning and ex*****on of all projects undertaken by the Committee. Vacancies under the office of Chairman shall be filled on a temporary basis by the Chairman within 30 days of the date the vacancy occurs. Such temporary offices shall serve until the next regular meeting of the committee when the vacancies shall be filled by election. If vacancies are not filled within 30 days of the time they occur, the State Committee Chairman shall name temporary officers to serve until the next regular meeting when the vacancies shall be filled by election. When there is a vacancy in the office of Chairman, the State Committee Chairman shall appoint a temporary Chairman who shall serve until the next regular meeting when the vacancy shall be filled by election. Article 3: The following provisions shall govern the conduct and operations of committees created by the Bylaws. The lesser of ten persons or ten percent of the membership of the committee shall be necessary to constitute a quorum. Each member shall have one vote. A majority of those present and voting shall decide any question except that in a vote for more than two candidates for one office a plurality of those present and voting shall be necessary to elect. Article 4: These Bylaws may be amended at any meeting of the Town Committee by a vote of the majority of the members present provided that written copies of the proposed change shall have been given in the notice of the meeting. Any changes in Bylaws shall be forwarded to the Republican State Committee.
