Home Rule is a governing principle for the administration of city and county governments in Iowa. Senate File 2472 (SF 2472) places limits on revenues local governments can collect from property owners in their respective jurisdictions.

Last month the Iowa Legislature passed a budget with a $1.2 billion deficit. They covered the deficit in part with money from the Taxpayer Relief Fund. If they continue at this pace the TRF will be drained of money in as few as three years. Is anyone concerned?
