IPI provides incarcerated men and women with opportunities for Building Brighter Futures

IPI (Iowa Prison Industries) is the work arm of the Iowa Department of Corrections, providing offenders with the opportunity for Building Brighter Futures, through our work training programs. IPI’s work training programs are one of the most successful programs in reducing recidivism – the likelihood that a released offender will return to prison. Since more than 90% of Iowa’s offenders will eventu

ally be released, the work programs of IPI are vital to the safety and security of Iowa. IPI is 100% self-funding and relies on the sales of our products and services to fund these valuable offender training programs. IPI’s programs and services are only available to purchase by governmental agencies, school districts, non-profit groups and employees of these organizations. IPI’s work training programs consist of Traditional Industries, IPI Farms and Private Sector Work Programs. In total, IPI employs over 700 offenders daily in one of our work programs, accounting for over one million hours of offender work training in the course of a year.

This past week, we were proud to present Ann Noska with the IPI Champion Award! 🙌

Ann has been a steady force for IPI and our Business Office for over 30 years. During her tenure, she has continuously exemplified what it truly means to be a champion for IPI. Her can-do attitude and commitment to excellence shows in everything she does, and her positive outlook affects those around her.

Ann is our only current employee IPI Champion Awardee, and we're honored to have presented this award for all she has done and continues to do daily for our organization and mission!

It's really not fair that only basketball stars seem to get recognized for their career highs! 🏀

This past fiscal year, the IPI Customer Service team set a new record for amount of customer orders fulfilled, with over 10,000 in FY26 — This is also the first time in our organization's history that this number has broken into five figures!

Though they primarily work behind the scenes, our Customer Service team impacts virtually every order that we receive, and it's because of their hard work that we continue to grow and serve our customers.

Congratulations to our superstar Customer Service team on the incredible milestone! 🙌

IPI and Homes for Iowa have officially landed at the Iowa State Fair! 🙌

This marks the third consecutive year that we've transported a full-size home down the road from Newton to the fairgrounds (if you were in the area last Thursday morning, you might've seen us!)

Make sure to stop by our exhibit just west of the Varied Industries Building any day during the fair to catch some shade, tour the home, and chat with representatives about our program and how you can purchase one of these homes for yourself!

IPI recently hosted a legislative tour at the Iowa Correctional Institution for Women, where 22 state legislators were able to get an up-close look at our Mitchellville shop and learn about our program.

Following the shop tour, they took a visit to Ventura Foods, one of IPI's private sector partners, to see the benefits and work being done in the partnership in action.

We currently have four additional tours scheduled at other locations, and we're excited to continue sharing the great work being done in our programs!

Congratulations to Matt Scranton on receiving his Governor's Volunteer Award for his service and heroism! 🙌

Matt volunteers not only to fundraise for the Iowa Paralyzed Veterans of America, but also volunteers to take them on an annual weeklong fishing trip in Minnesota.

One of these days, a fast storm rolled in with two-foot rolling waves, and Matt and his son saw a floating tube upside down in the water. They heard screams coming from the water, and when they went to investigate, they found two young girls wearing no life jackets, attempting to climb up a cliff, but the relentless waves kept them from climbing to safety.

Matt and his son were able to pull them onto the pontoon to safety, where they immediately collapsed from exhaustion. They then delivered the girls to their parents safe and sound.

Matt is someone who never asks for praise for the many acts of volunteerism he is involved with, and is perfectly happy knowing he is able to brighten someone's day or help those in need. We're proud to have Matt on the IPI team, and we congratulate him on this honor!

This week, we were proud to present Delbert Longley with the prestigious IPI Champion Award! 🎖️

As Chief Jail Inspector for the Department of Corrections, he was a tireless promoter and advocate for our training programs and the impact they make. Whether it was a sheriff, jail admin, city manager or a deputy, Delbert went out of his way to share our offerings with everyone.

Throughout the years, he also helped IPI create more work for the incarcerated individuals in our programs, taking a genuine interest in and sharing their success whenever he could.

Delbert will officially be retiring this summer, and everyone that he met and impacted through his work will miss him dearly. He exemplifies to the greatest extent what it means to be a "Champion!" 🙌

IPI is proud to support Iowa's police, not only with our products and services, but also with our mission to reduce recidivism to create safer communities.

The IPI Sign Shop at Anamosa is always innovating and dreaming up new ways to meet customer needs, and with their new Roland C0630i UV printer, the team has been exploring brand-new possibilities for custom interior signage and decals!

The new printer uses UV light to instantly cure layers of specialized ink onto practically any surface, allowing raised, embossed or tactile effects to be printed on just about anything. The shop is looking forward to continuing to dive into the possibilities of this exciting new technology!
