AMOS celebrated 30 years of organizing with 1,200 citizen leaders from 40+ organizations in central Iowa and an 80-person delegation from northeast Iowa! We shared powerful stories on water quality, public school funding, silver alert, EMS response times, and workforce barriers for refugee Iowans and DACA recipients. Together, we gained commitments from the following candidates to work with AMOS on this agenda:

Homeownership has long been one of the strongest pathways to building generational wealth—but for many Black families, that path was intentionally blocked.
Robin Jenkins at (tag) Corinthian Baptist Church helped organize the Des Moines Community Land Trust to create new opportunities for African Americans and other Des Moines residents who had been denied equitable access to homeownership.

Every day, Rev. Dr. Fred Gaddy looked out from his church window at St. Paul AME Church and saw vacant lots that had become symbols of what neighborhoods had lost.
But he also saw possibility.
Working with AMOS, Elder Gaddy helped organize support for a sales tax that has raised $159 million to strengthen neighborhoods across Des Moines.
