As a progressive cultural institution, the Botanical Garden is a seasonally inviting backdrop for celebrations, receptions and a destination tourist attraction. Over the summer 2013, our 34-year old building got a facelift, transforming the visitor experience as we worked to implement Phase 1 of our capital campaign. Seven acres of outdoor gardens opened in the Spring of 2015 and include a water g
arden, rose garden, conifer and gravel garden, formal allee and much more. The renovated indoor spaces—including the expansive DuPont Room and two smaller spaces in the North Gallery—are for guests to enjoy the tropics during Iowa’s weather extremes and see garden inspired art. Whether coming for a business meeting, a formal celebration or to see the urban oasis, guests can wander the gardens during breaks, enjoying the serenity of the Botanical Garden. Lastly, Iowa’s first living wall makes an impression as your guests enter the lobby, which includes a charming retail space called the Garden Shop. The Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden is closed on Mondays and the following holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas. The facility is handicapped accessible and provides plenty of free parking. Admission:
Adults $10
Seniors (65+) $9
Military $9
Youth (4-17) $7
Members and children under 3: Free
