📣 New Schedule Begins Monday, June 1, 2026!

Mount Rainier Pool is updating its schedule to better serve our swimmers, families, and community. We’re excited to now offer six days of swim lessons each week, Monday through Saturday!

🏊 Lap Swimmers
We’ve added an extra hour of lap swim on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. On those nights, the pool will now close at 9:00 p.m.

💦 Water Exercise Is Growing!
Water exercise is included with all passes and daily admission. New options include:

• Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 9:00–10:00 a.m. with Debbie
• Tuesday/Thursday, 9:00–10:00 a.m. with Lesley
• Tuesday/Thursday, 6:00–7:00 p.m. with Jill
• Deep Water: Friday, 10:15–11:00 a.m. with Debbie

Don’t forget—your admission also includes water walking before and after class!

Mount Rainier Pool is proud to be a “Third Place” for youth and families in our community and surrounding areas.

✅ $2 Swim With Your Kids Rate
Parents can swim with their children for just $2 more during any swim.

✅ $3 Youth Summer Swim Fees
From June 22 through September 4, youth swimmers can enjoy a reduced summer swim rate of just $3.

📅 Closures & Reduced Hours
The pool will be open regular hours on June 18.

• Friday, July 3 – Pool closes at 6:00 p.m.
• Saturday, July 4 – Pool closed all day

🚨 FREE Community Lifeguard Prep Course starts TODAY! 🚨

Know a teen who wants to become a lifeguard, improve their swimming, build confidence in the water, or just get a great workout? Our Community Lifeguard Prep Course is a perfect place to start.

📅 Program Dates: May 28-June 25
⏰ Program Time: Tuesday and Thursday, 3-4pm
📍 Location: Mt. Rainier Pool

This free program is led by Lead Head Lifeguard Mason Gibbs and other experienced Head Lifeguards, who will coach participants on the skills they need to be better prepared for a lifeguard certification course.

✅ Improve swimming endurance
✅ Build rescue-readiness skills
✅ Gain confidence in deep water
✅ Prepare for lifeguard certification
✅ Get active and have fun
✅ No work commitment required

We also offer free lifeguard certification courses, making this a great opportunity for youth interested in working at any pool as a lifeguard.

Being a lifeguard is more than just a summer job. It helps young people develop career-ready skills like leadership, responsibility, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, customer service, and emergency response. These are skills that look great on a resume, college application, scholarship application, or future job interview.

Whether your teen wants to work as a lifeguard, become a stronger swimmer, or build confidence and life skills, this course is a great first step.

Warm weather does not always mean warm water. This recent KOMO News story is an important reminder that rivers, lakes, and Puget Sound can still be dangerously cold, with strong currents and sudden drop-offs that can overwhelm even experienced swimmers.

At Mount Rainier Pool, we believe water safety starts before summer begins. Swim lessons help children build confidence, learn safer habits around water, and develop skills that can make a real difference.

We still have a few openings in our Friday swim lesson classes starting next week. Now is a great time to get your child signed up before summer water activities begin.

🚗 Parking Reminder for Swim Lessons

We’re excited to now offer swim lessons Monday through Friday afternoons and evenings, plus Saturday mornings! During these busy times, the pool may also be hosting swim team practices and public lap swim, so parking can fill up quickly.

Please help us be good neighbors by:
• Not blocking driveways
• Following all posted street signage
• Using overflow parking when needed

Great news — there are no delays due to the closure. We did not need to reschedule any lessons, and all swim lesson sessions are on schedule.

The Mount Rainier Pool will re-open tomorrow (Wednesday, May 27) at 6:00 a.m., and we will be open regular hours the entire day.
The pool was closed due to mechanical issues that resulted in lower flows and visibility below requirements. The pool water is clear and ready for your visit:)

SCHEDULE EXTENSIONS
We will start notifying patrons of the time added to their passes later this week. All 3-month and annual passes will receive extensions.

Closure Extended Through Tuesday, May 26
An update for Wednesday, May 27, will be sent out around 5:00 pm on Tuesday evening.

Dear Valued Patron,
Mount Rainier Pool will remain closed through Tuesday, May 26. We will provide another update regarding Wednesday, May 27 operations on Tuesday evening at approximately 5:00 p.m.

SWIM LESSONS
Swim lessons will be delayed, and the current session schedule will be adjusted. Once the pool reopens, our staff will contact participants with updated lesson dates and any additional scheduling information.

PASS EXTENSIONS
Pass holders will receive an extension for the days impacted by the closure. Once the closure has ended, we will follow up with pass holders regarding their adjusted expiration dates.

REASON FOR CLOSURE
Mount Rainier Pool is a well-used community facility that has served the public for many years. As with many aging aquatic facilities, unexpected maintenance needs can occasionally arise. This extended closure allows staff and contractors to complete the necessary work, verify that systems are operating properly, and ensure the facility is ready to safely welcome patrons back.
We understand this closure is inconvenient and appreciate your patience as we work to resume operations as quickly and safely as possible.

Our lessons include structured skill development, progress tracking, and student report cards so families can follow their swimmer’s growth every step of the way.
