We are hiring a Full-Time School & After-School Program Administrator to help lead our school and after-school programming and support our students, families, staff, and community.

We’re looking for someone who:
- Has at least a bachelor’s degree
- Has experience leading and managing a team
- Has experience working with immigrant, refugee, and low-income communities
- Is bilingual — strongly preferred
- Is passionate about children, families, education, and community

POSITION

School & After-School Program Administrator

Location: 1200 Walker Street, Des Moines, IA 50316
Employment: Full-Time, Salaried

Salary: $50,000–$60,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications

ABOUT THE POSITION

The School & After-School Program Administrator will provide administrative and operational leadership across Ubuntu Leadership Academy's academic and after-school programs.

This position will play an important role in supporting students, families, teachers, program staff, and community partners.

Key responsibilities include:

- Managing student registration, enrollment, and registrar functions
- Maintaining student records and attendance information
- Supporting daily school administrative operations
- Coordinating after-school program administration
- Communicating and building relationships with parents and families
- Coordinating staff, instructors, coaches, mentors, and volunteers
- Supporting school events, meetings, field trips, and family activities
- Coordinating with community organizations and partners
- Developing and improving administrative systems and processes

QUALIFICATIONS

We are especially interested in candidates with:

- Previous administrative experience in a school or educational setting
- Experience working directly with students, parents, and families
- Experience working with low-income, immigrant, refugee, African, and culturally diverse families
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and family-service skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
- Experience with student registration, enrollment, attendance, or registrar responsibilities is strongly preferred

Meet Our Panelist: Laura!

We’re excited to welcome Laura as a panelist for TONIGHT’S Youth Leadership Development Panel at the Genesis Youth Foundation Ubuntu Leadership Summit 2026!

Laura’s journey represents what Ubuntu is all about identity, resilience, mentorship, leadership, and giving back.

A first-generation American with Kenyan and Ugandan heritage who was also raised within Mexican culture, Laura brings a powerful multicultural perspective to her work with young people. She is a recent Grand View University graduate in Criminal Justice & Political Science (Pre-Law) and is now pursuing her Master’s in Clinical Social Work.

Today, Laura serves as a Youth Treatment Counselor at Orchard Place and a RIVA Capacity Navigator. Her journey with Genesis has included serving as a Youth Ambassador, Ubuntu Leader, and Coach and now she returns to share her experiences with the next generation.
Tonight, Laura will join our conversation about the realities young people face while navigating leadership, college, careers, cultural identity, mentorship, workforce readiness, and finding their purpose.
