The 2026 World Food & Music Festival is underway at Des Moines' Western Gateway. The festival began with a U.S. Citizenship Naturalization ceremony with Supervisor Mark Holm delivering welcoming remarks.

On Tuesday, Polk County Supervisors approved funding for a purpose-built behavioral health transport vehicle. This vehicle will be used by MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center to deliver essential behavioral health transport services. The transport vehicle and improved process will enable MercyOne to provide timely, dignified, and compassionate care to all patients in crisis.

On Tuesday, Polk County Supervisors approved additional funding to expand hours at KADI - Knock and Drop Iowa food pantry. We celebrated a major federal investment yesterday in Ankeny that will boost local infrastructure, strengthen our regional economy, and support continued growth across Central Iowa. This project expands a key transportation asset, saves taxpayer dollars through smart planning, and positions our area for even more opportunity ahead.
