Whitney Mrozinski didn’t just find a place to live in Iowa — she found a community worth putting down roots in.

After moving to Cedar Falls, Whitney and her family quickly fell in love with the schools, outdoor activities, welcoming people and easy access to everything they needed. That sense of belonging led Whitney to explore purchasing an existing business in the area so her family could stay in the place that already felt like home.

Today, she owns PeekaBoo, a beloved Main Street business that brings joy to families across the community.

For Whitney, choosing Iowa meant choosing roots, opportunity and a dream she didn’t know was waiting for her.

✨ CelebrAsian Recap! ✨ This weekend IEDA attended the Iowa's largest Asian American festival, hosted by the Iowa Asian Alliance, to celebrate cultures from across Asia — including Iowa’s partner states of Hebei, China; Maharashtra, India; Taiwan; and Yamanashi, Japan.

The Iowa Partner State Program showcased the new Iowa-Maharashtra partnership to CelebrAsian’s ‘The Story of Us’ theme in the Indian Village. Thank you to the Partner State Program Maharashtra Committee participants, and for the Indian Village host, Simply India, for collaborating to include this partnership among your features!

The Japan America Society of Iowa (JASI) and the Chinese Association of Iowa 愛荷華州華人協會 enlightened guests in the Japan and Chinese villages. The Japan Village welcomed special guests from the Japanese Consulate of Chicago!

The Iowa Partner State Program, the Iowa Asian Alliance, and the Overseas Community Affairs Council (僑務委員會 OCAC) brought Taiwan’s 當代樂坊 Formosa Melody Music Center to perform on the main stage to honor the enduring bond between Iowa and its partner state of Taiwan. Thank you to the performers, co-hosts, our Partner State Program Taiwan Committee, Taiwan in Chicago, and the enthusiastic crowd for this memorable moment!

Big things are happening in Bondurant! Last week we celebrated the groundbreaking of Vermeer Corporation's new facility at Timmins Industrial Park—one of IEDA-certified sites in the community.

For 78 years, Vermeer has been a driving force in Iowa’s manufacturing industry. What began as a small-town manufacturer of agricultural and industrial equipment has grown into a global leader, while staying rooted right here at home.

City of Bondurant, Iowa Government continues to prove it’s ready for growth, and this investment is another strong signal that it’s open for business. We’re excited to see what’s ahead as Vermeer expands its presence and helps drive Iowa’s manufacturing economy forward.

On May 15, 1996, Iowa became the first American state to enter a people-to-people partnership with a region of Ukraine: Cherkasy. Today, citizens in Iowa and Cherkasy celebrate 30 years of this historic collaboration.

To commemorate this momentous occasion, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy Regional State Administration, signed, in separate ceremonies, a renewal of this partnership agreement! We extend our thanks to Cherkasy Regional State Administration leaders, the Department of Regional Development team, and the Ukrainian Embassy for their support and continued collaboration.

The Partner State Program at IEDA, is honored to support this partnership at both economic and cultural levels. This collaboration has brought the partnership to a new chapter, creating continued opportunities for citizens of both regions. All are welcome to get involved, learn more about the Partner State Program at iowaeda.com/partner-state-program.

"Over the past 40 years, Main Street Iowa has grown into one of the strongest and most respected statewide Main Street programs in the country, and that success comes directly from the people doing the work in these communities." said IEDA Director Debi Durham.
