The Des Moines city budget is facing a $17 million spending cut over the next two years. While the police budget continues to increase, funding for libraries, schools, and other public services are at risk of funding slashes. A mass movement across the city can put the budget in the people’s hands to determine how our money is spent!

Iowans joined millions of workers across the nation this international workers day to commemorate May Day, the working class holiday and global tradition since 1889.

Today, workers are facing attacks on their communities by ICE, while in an affordability crisis that has only worsened since the beginning of the US-Israeli war on Iran. Like the 1969 students who chose to strike for racial equality at the University of Iowa, we are choosing to strike to demand an end to the war on immigrants, the war on Iran, and the affordability crisis being waged on our communities!

Housing, decent healthcare, utilities, and even food has become so expensive that it’s next to impossible for working people to make ends meet. On top of this, Trump is waging a war on Iran that makes inflation even worse. May Day is our chance to shut it down and demand change.

This Friday, May 1st join us and the people across the nation answer the call for a national strike to fight back against Trumps Billionaire Agenda!
