Microsurfacing has begun in Dougherty Lake and will continue through Wednesday. This treatment applies a 1/4-3/8” layer of wearing surface to the asphalt, sealing it up and extending pavement life. The machine is built primarily for straight line work and can’t make tight turns, so cul-de-sacs require hand-work at times. Depending on weather conditions, it takes roughly 4 hours for the material to dry, at which point we can reopen to traffic. Please make nice sweeping turns rather than “cranking” the wheel while stopped to avoid marring the new surface. For more info on the project visit https://www.desperesmo.org/1501/Microsurfacing or for more on pavement management as a whole, https://www.desperesmo.org/1329/Pavement-Management

Highland Avenue will be closed between Shari Drive and the railroad tracks this Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30am to 3pm to allow for pavement repairs and trimming of trees/brush. The narrow width of the road makes it unsafe to perform these takes while open to traffic. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to maintain our public streets.
