The mission of the Center of Concern is to provide housing solutions, support services, and counseling for older adults, people with d

isabilities, and others in need, enabling them to live with dignity and independence. Since 1978, the Center of Concern has been a source of hope and inspiration to thousands of clients and volunteers whose lives have been enriched by our programs. We are here to inform, advocate, and intervene on behalf of residents struggling with challenges related to aging, homelessness, and accessing resources to remain independent in their homes. The many services provided by the Center of Concern make a real difference in the quality of life for many in the community and are provided without regard to age, gender, disability, race, sexual orientation, military/veteran, national origin, or financial status.

Did you know? The Center of Concern was founded in 1978 by Dorothea "Dee" Heinrich after she conducted a community survey and learned about unmet needs of residents.

Last year, the Center of Concern conducted a comprehensive client needs survey to better understand the experiences, challenges, and priorities of the individuals and families the agency serves.

Volunteers needed! Help our older adult clients with outdoor chores like weeding, leaf cleanup, or window washing. Volunteer with family, friends, or colleagues, or be partnered up with other local volunteers! All ages are welcome.

Morning 9am - 12pm and/or Afternoon 12pm - 3pm

Students can earn up to 6 service hours! Tools and supplies will be provided. Volunteers must provide own transportation to client homes.

The Partner of the Year Award recognizes a local organization that supports the Center of Concern through financial or in-kind contributions, volunteerism, and positive engagement with the community. Since 2019, Jewel-Osco has provided holiday turkey dinners for Center of Concern's clients each year, with an annual in-kind value of approximately $5,000. This ongoing generosity helps make the holidays brighter for older adults in our community.
