Earlier this month, the City of Des Plaines held a closing ceremony for Fire Station #62 on E. Oakton Street as it prepares for a major, multimillion-dollar renovation.

The project will modernize the facility, strengthen training capabilities, and enhance the department’s ability to serve the community now and in the future.

During construction, fire and EMS coverage will continue without interruption through a partnership with the Village of Rosemont. Station 62 crews and equipment are temporarily operating out of Rosemont Fire Station 2 on W. Higgins Road to ensure consistent response times on Des Plaines’ south side.

It was an impactful City Council meeting in Des Plaines yesterday. The Council approved a settlement agreement with the Chicago District Camp Ground Association, along with agreements to purchase and redevelop the former Lattoff YMCA into a modern sports complex. These two major projects will play a key role in transforming the city’s future and opening the door to exciting new opportunities for the community. View the full recap in the video below.
