“Because of all the bureaucracy and external pressure, being an educator of multilingual learners can feel overwhelming,” writes Valentina Gonzalez of Rooted Linguistics.
“Staying focused on the students and what they need helps us to accomplish our goals as their teachers.
They need educators who believe in them and see their strengths.
They need instruction in every classroom that integrates language and content.
They need cheerleaders who will celebrate their accomplishments big and small along the way.
They need advocates will stand up for their rights, who will fight for what is best, and help pave a path toward success.
They need to see themselves and their experiences in the books and resources throughout the school helping them to feel seen and understood.
They need to belong…in the classroom, school, and community through friendship and clubs or sports and other activities. This sense of connection gives them confidence making them WANT to come to school.
They need YOU. ♥️🙏🏽🌎”
