Just a reminder that this Sunday, December 1, 2024, hunting begins at Lake Cuyamaca. There will be hunting on Sundays and Wednesdays through January for waterfowl (ducks, etc.). Keep this information in mind if you are in the area of the lake on these days. Also, the lake is part of the Cuyamaca Lake Recreation District and is not a part of the park.

📢Coyote Canyon is closed to all vehicles from the Coyote Canyon gate just before 3rd crossing due to storm damage from Tropical Storm Hilary. Coyote Canyon is open to the public till the gate. Sheep Camp is closed until further notice and camping is not permitted past the gate. If you have any questions, please call the Colorado Desert District office at 760-767-4037.

The Visitor Center located at 200 Palm Canyon Drive is open 7 days a week from 9a-5p, including holidays from Oct 1-May 31.

The update on the Sweetwater staging area is as follows. The CXT ADA pit toilet is in its final purchasing process. As to when it will be install is up to the CXT manufacture since it will be them that will be installing it. Last time I asked them for a time line they said there was a back log on CXT orders and they would not be able to tell me until the order process is complete.

The Ramadas should be installed hopefully by October of this year.

The Cuyamaca 100k is a 62 mile trail race in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park located approximately 40 miles east of San Diego.

Notice!!! The paving project at the Sweetwater Bridge Staging area is postponed, the area will remain open until new paving materials are available. The expected start date is now December first or so...
