📣Public Service Announcement | Ordinance 8.12 🔔

* To: All DeSoto business owners and residents
* Subject: New Ordinance (Section 8.12) — Prohibition of Certain Amusement Redemption Gaming Machines

📋 The DeSoto City Council recently adopted Ordinance Section 8.12, which prohibits maintaining, displaying for patronage, or otherwise keeping for operation by patrons any amusement redemption machine or gambling device within city limits. A person, firm, or corporation that violates this ordinance commits an offense and may be subject to enforcement action.

What this means for you:

‼️ Businesses (arcades, bars, restaurants, convenience stores, game rooms, etc.) must remove or cease operation of any amusement redemption machines or devices that fall under the ordinance. Continued display, maintenance, or operation of prohibited devices can lead to citations, fines, and other penalties under city code.

🚨Stats for April 🚨

While most people were sleeping, our officers were answering 8,302 calls for service, responding to major crashes, making arrests, investigating crimes, and staying proactive throughout the city.

These numbers are more than statistics they represent real people, real situations, and officers making split-second decisions daily to help keep DeSoto safe.

As summer approaches and school lets out, we typically see an increase in activity throughout the city. Please continue to stay alert, lock your vehicles, and remember: if you see something, say something.

As we wrap up National Police Week, we want to give a special shoutout to Officer Hopkins and Corporal Montemayor for their hard work and dedication in helping make the Drone Academy at Katherine Johnson a major success.

Thank you both for investing your time, knowledge, and energy into inspiring the next generation. Opportunities like this help build strong connections with our youth while showing them the many positive paths and possibilities ahead.

💙🖤 NATIONAL POLICE WEEK 🖤💙

This week, we honor the men and women behind the badge who show up every single day to protect, serve, and stand for our community; yes even on the hard days.

Law enforcement is more than flashing lights and uniforms. It’s sacrifice, missed holidays, long nights, difficult calls, and still finding the strength to answer the next one.

If you see an officer this week:
👮Say thank you
👊Give a fist bump
✋ Offer a high five
🙏🏽 Say a prayer for their safety

Small gestures go a long way.

To all officers, thank you for your service, dedication and commitment to keeping our community safe. Today and every day, we appreciate you. 💙

It’s national police week, and today the DeSoto Police Department gathered with community members, city leaders, family, and friends to honor the brave men and women in law enforcement who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others. 💙🖤

During our Police Memorial Ceremony, we paused to remember the fallen, reflect on their sacrifice, and stand united in support of those who continue to serve each and every day.

Thank you to everyone who attended, showed support, and took the time to stand with us in remembrance. Your presence means more than words can express.

Some wear the badge on the streets… others wear it behind secured doors and controlled environments. Either way, the mission stays the same.

This week we recognize our Correctional Officers for showing up daily with professionalism, patience, accountability and resilience in a job that often goes unseen by the public.

Thank you for maintaining order, protecting others and handling one of the toughest assignments in public safety. Your work matters and it does not go unnoticed. 💙🖤
