🚨 DEPLOYMENT UPDATE 🚨

Destin Fire units are current working in Division W, where they are currently providing structure protection in neighborhoods where hot spots and flare ups are continuously reported and are supporting brush trucks along the fire line.

With weather conditions are expected to escalate throughout the evening, crews from Northwest Florida will continue to work in the Hills/ Possum Kingdom Lake area.

Destin Fire has been activated as part of an Engine Strike Team to deploy to Texas in support of the wild fire responses. Teams from across region 1 are answering the call to assist Texans during this time of need!

They will be leaving in the morning. Safe travels to all those deploying. Updates to come soon.

A Huge THANK YOU TO Preferred Governmental Insurance Trust for awarding Destin Fire with a matching grant for training and safety initiatives!

This grant helps pay for the $44,992 cost of 12 Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus to keep our firefighters in the best equipment! We appreciate our community and everything they do to keep our firefighters safe!

NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING

The Destin Fire Control District announces a special meeting to which all persons are invited.
DATE: August 26, 2026
TIME: 9:00 a.m. cst
PLACE: 848 Airport Road
Destin, FL 32541

PURPOSE: To discuss and take action on insurance policy coverage for property and general liability insurance, as well as workers’ compensation insurance.

A copy of the agenda may be obtained by writing to the Destin Fire Control District, 848 Airport Road, Destin, FL 32541. An appeal from any decision requires a record of the proceedings. Although the Destin Fire Control District meetings are recorded, affected persons are advised that it may be necessary for them to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, including the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.

FAILURE TO FILE A PROTEST WITHIN THE TIME PRESCRIBED IN SECTION 120.53(5), FLORIDA STATUTES, SHALL CONSTITUTE A WAIVER OF PROCEEDINGS UNDER CHAPTER 120, FLORIDA STATUTES.

🚨 🚨🚨 STRUCTURE FIRE 🚨 🚨 🚨

Last night around 10 pm, Destin Fire units were called to Vinings Way, a large apartment complex for report of smoke and flames coming from an apartment. Engine 10 arrived on scene to find a room and contents fire. With quick actions of that crew, they were able to knock down the fire, containing it to the room of origin. No reported injuries to civilians or firefighters. Cause is under investigation, but appears to be a e-bike battery charging that started the fire.

Thank you to North Bay Fire Control District, Okaloosa Island Professional Firefighters and swfdinfo for responding to the scene and helping with coverage while overhaul and cleanup was completed.

Destin Fire is currently on scene of a 18 Wheeler Fire. Crews were able to get on scene and knock down the fire quickly before any exposures were threatened great job to B-Shift for their swift actions! Large amount of smoke in the area of Walmart in Destin as crews are continuing to clean up.
