Emerald Coast Entertainment Group is holding the 2nd Annual Mayor's Charity Gala on October 16th with proceeds benefiting three local organizations: The Honor Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Emerald Coast, and the Destin Parks Foundation. Mayor Bobby Wagner will kick off the event and Bernard Johnson and Shane Moody will co-host. Dewey Destin and Mark Wilson will be receiving awards. LABOR DAY WORK RESTRICTIONS
In accordance with City of Destin Policy, no utility work will be permitted in the city from
Friday, September 4, 2026, through Monday, September 7, 2026, other than bona fide emergency situations, for the Labor Day holiday. All work shall be suspended; all equipment and materials shall be removed from the rights of way.

Work may resume on September 8, 2026.
Work restrictions south of US 98 (Harbor Blvd/Emerald Coast Pkwy) end for 2026 on
September 8 also. Permitted work may commence on that date.

NOTICE OF JOINT PUBLIC MEETING: Pursuant to section 164.1053, Florida Statutes, notice is hereby provided that the Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners and the City of Destin City Council will convene a joint public meeting pursuant to Chapter 164, Florida Statutes, on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at the Okaloosa County Administration Building located at 1250 N. Eglin Pkwy, Shalimar, Florida, 32579.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss disputes identified by the City of Destin related to the State Park Property on Holiday Isle. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss disputes identified by the City of Destin related to the State-acquired property on Holiday Isle.

The City Council and Board of County Commissioners will be present in a decision-making capacity. Members of the public are invited and welcome to attend.

Okaloosa County and the City of Destin adhere to the American Disabilities Act and will make reasonable modifications for access to this meeting upon request. Requests may be made to the County Commission office (850-689-5030 or 850-651-7105) and must be made at least 48 hours in advance of the meeting in order to provide the requested service.

Preliminary Flood Maps Are Now Available to View Online

The City of Destin has received preliminary flood maps, and residents and property owners can now view them using the City’s Forerunner Interactive Floodplain Mapping Platform.

You can use Forerunner to view both the current Effective Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) and the newly released Preliminary FIRM for your property.

How to view the maps:

1. Visit https://destinfl.withforerunner.com/explore
2. Once the map loads, use the address search box in the upper-left corner to enter your property address. The map will display the current Effective FIRM information for that location.
3. To view the Preliminary FIRM, click the four arrows icon to the right of the blue “Effective FIRM” bar located in the lower-right corner of the map.
4. Click the blue Effective FIRM bar in the lower right one more time.
5. When the menu opens, select “Flood layers.”
6. Turn on the “Preliminary FIRM” toggle.

You can then view the preliminary flood map information for your property and compare it with the effective flood map.

Please remember: These maps are preliminary and have not yet replaced the City’s currently effective FEMA flood maps. The current Effective FIRM remains the regulatory flood map until the preliminary maps complete FEMA’s review and adoption process.

We encourage Destin residents and property owners to take a few minutes to look up their property and become familiar with the preliminary flood map information.
