Our group was the first of it's kind to have a party in their establishment and they were very accommodating.

It's always encouraging to see members of our community that share our enthusiasm!

Today, we pause as a department and a community to honor the life of Darryl Swanson. Our Deepest Condolences go out to the Swanson Family both Son ( Jeff Swanson ) and Grandson ( Ryan Swanson) retired Detroit Lakes Fire Department Chiefs.
Darryl was more than a name—he was a presence, a storyteller, a supporter, and a true part of the fabric that makes Detroit Lakes so special. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering pride in this community will not be forgotten.

To those who had the privilege of knowing him, you understand the impact he made—through a smile, a conversation, or simply by being there. He represented the very spirit of what it means to care for one another.

On behalf of the Detroit Lakes Fire Department, we extend our deepest condolences to the Swanson family and all who are grieving this loss. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Rest easy, Darryl. Your legacy lives on in the hearts of this community.

A big thanks to everyone that came to our open house! 🚒🔥

We were fortunate with weather this year and we had a great turnout. Many meals were served and there was lots of smiles. Many of you know that this wouldn't have been possible without help from members of our community, and we'd like to thank them.

Lakes Iron and Metal provided us with 3 cars to demonstrate auto extrication and they cleaned up the mess.

Central Market, Hoffman's, and Lakes Processing for making sure everyone got a free meal.

State Farm for ensuring everyone was properly educated on fire prevention.

And Nate Field for donating a driving car for us to burn!

Thank you for your support and participation and we hope to see you next year!

Our members had the privilege of training at the Hector Airport this month!✈️🔥

Everyone had a blast and they couldn't wait to take their turn in the plane. Some firefighters go their whole careers without training at this level.

Thanks to the airport and the fire department for inviting us!
