Detroit homeowners, do you know about the City of Detroit’s HOPE Program? 🏡

The City of Detroit’s Homeowners Property Exemption (HOPE) Program helps eligible Detroit homeowners reduce or eliminate their current year’s property taxes. Depending on eligibility, homeowners may receive a 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, or 10% property tax exemption.

Join our team at the Detroit Housing Network! 💚

CHN Housing Partners is hiring an Assistant Director of Operations, DHN to help lead the day-to-day operations and coordination of Detroit Housing Network programs, services, systems, and partnerships.

In this role, the Assistant Director will work across teams and with DHN Members and partners to strengthen service delivery, improve operational processes, support technology and data systems, and help ensure Detroit residents can efficiently access the housing resources and services they need.

We’re looking for an experienced, collaborative leader with a strong background in housing services, project management, and operations who is ready to help move DHN’s work forward.

As the Network Manager of the Detroit Housing Network, CHN Housing Partners works to connect Detroiters to housing services through a strong network of community partners.

Wayne Metro, MiSide, Bridging Communities and Matrix Human Services are offering Homebuyer Education Workshops from August 19 - 22 to help you navigate the homebuying process and understand down payment assistance programs.

If you’re looking to build generational wealth or want to learn more about credit building, join U SNAP BAC, Central Detroit Christian CDC, Wayne Metro, Bridging Communities, and Matrix Human Services for Financial Wellness Workshops happening August 13 – 29.

Lastly, if you’re currently renting, we’ve got you covered. Our Renters Workshops are being hosted by Wayne Metro on August 18, Matrix Human Services on August 19, and U SNAP BAC on August 25! They will walk you through your rights, responsibilities, and ways to protect your home.

Our Network Member Jefferson East, Inc. is hiring!

Jefferson East, Inc is seeking a Manager of Home Repair and Resiliency to help lead home repair and energy-efficiency efforts that support Detroit residents in remaining safely and affordably in their homes.

This role will support JEI’s growing housing work through residential inspections, contractor oversight, home repair projects, energy-efficiency initiatives, and more. Candidates should have experience in residential construction, home repair, housing rehabilitation, energy efficiency, inspections, or contractor management. Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification is required.

The HOPE Counseling Network will be at the Ignite Detroit Community Contractor Fair providing free HOPE application assistance for Detroit homeowners.

Meet one-on-one with a HOPE counselor to:

1. Complete your HOPE application
2. Ask questions about eligibility
3. Connect with housing resources and support

While you’re there, you’ll also have the opportunity to meet local contractors, learn about home improvement resources, and connect with organizations serving Detroit residents.

Meet Khira Wallace – the new Data Analyst for the Detroit Housing Network at ! 💚

In her role, Khira will help transform data into meaningful insights that support DHN’s programs, measure our impact, and help us better serve Detroit residents.

“I’m most excited about using data to provide insights into the amazing work that DHN is doing,” Khira shared.

Fun fact about Khira: Outside of work, she enjoys practicing yoga, going on walks, and getting lost in a good book.

Khira is excited to be part of an organization committed to ensuring Detroit residents have access to affordable housing, and she hopes her work will contribute to DHN’s continued growth while supporting its mission for years to come.

Wildfire smoke from Canada has caused hazardous air quality across Metro Detroit and current conditions can affect everyone, even healthy individuals.

If possible, stay indoors, keep windows and doors closed, and avoid outdoor activities until air quality improves. If you must go outside, consider wearing a well-fitting N95 mask especially if you have asthma, COPD, diabetes, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions.

Free N95 masks are available at select City of Detroit locations, including:

• Patton Recreation Center
• Adams Butzel Recreation Center
• Farwell Recreation Center
• Northwest Activities Center
• Rosa Parks Transit Center
• Jason Hargrove Transit Center
