Hey, did you know every Wednesday from 10 AM–2 PM, our Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP) youth have a safe and welcoming place to come to called The HUB. The youth can come and find support, resources, and assistance with whatever barriers they may be facing, such as housing insecurity.

The HUB was designed with our youth in mind, a place where they can feel safe, secure, supported, and a true sense of belonging, and grab a good meal! Whether they need help navigating housing, employment, education, life skills, or other resources, we’re here to help them move forward.

If you are youth age 18 to 24 and are homeless, YOU Don’t have to face your barriers alone!

For more information, contact Lydia Goddard at [email protected].

Want to know WHY we Hustle, THIS Is Why –

At CHS, we believe that age is never a barrier to making a difference! And one of our incredible CHS supporters, Carl Hoenle, proved just that at our Hustle for Homes 5K Race/Walk! Which was a huge success, by the way.

Carl didn’t just show up, he participated, enjoyed every moment, and crossed that finish line (see the photo below)! His determination, energy, and willingness to support our mission reminded us exactly what the Hustle for Homes is all about: Community, Compassion, and making sure no one is left behind.

At Community & Home Supports, Inc. (CHS), we work every day to help individuals and families experiencing homelessness, including our senior citizens, navigate the journey from homelessness to stable housing. We connect people to housing, supportive services, resources, and the tools they need to rebuild and maintain their lives with dignity.

And the numbers tell part of the story:
916+ individuals and families served
35 new cases enrolled
3 individuals/families successfully rehoused

Every person we serve represents a story. A life. A family. A future. And this is one of the reasons that we HUSTLE!

Carl, thank you for showing up, crossing that finish line, and reminding us that when we come together, we can go the distance!

Now, let’s hear from Carl! See below –

“You guys are awesome!

You sent me a 3x or 4x shirt.
I love it!!! Your event organizers are awesome! I will again participate in your event next year.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate you all for this event, I will enthusiastically participate in this event next year.
You need to get Daniel Garza to run in this event. Top notch runner. I will try to get more people to walk in this event in 2027.
I greatly appreciate this tee shirt and your attention to detail-- I am an old man and not anything to speak of-- your organizers treated me superbly!

Thank you for your patience and professionalism ❤️.”

Let’s talk about these young people having bragging rights when they return to school.
There is something truly special about watching our young people believe in something bigger than themselves.

At this year’s Hustle for Homes 5K Race/Walk, our young participants showed us what determination, courage, and heart look like. From our youngest runner at just 7 years old to the many young people who joined her, they showed up ready to move, ready to make a difference, and they finished!

They may have been some of our smallest runners, but they carried some of the BIGGEST hearts on the course.
Every step they took represented hope. Every mile represented determination. And the finish-line celebration reminded us that our young people are capable of amazing things when they are encouraged, supported, and given the opportunity to shine.

And, to all of our young Hustle for Homes participants: WE SEE YOU. WE CELEBRATE YOU. AND WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!
You didn’t just run a 5K, you helped us HUSTLE FOR HOMES and showed us that the future is in very good hands.

Keep dreaming. Keep moving. Keep believing. The finish line is just the beginning! We hope to see you all next year, HfH2027!

Our Coordinated Entry Programs Manager, Matthew Albert Tommelein, led an effort to partner with the Services Organization (NSO) to provide engagement, assessment, navigation, housing search and landlord coordination for roughly 78 households annually (families with minors residing in emergency shelter). Matthew stated, “Opportunities like this allow us to take a more proactive approach to housing families while generating revenue that helps sustain and strengthen our programs.”

This partnership was recently funded by the City of Detroit for a total of $9.2 million (CHS will receive roughly $93,600.00 annually) and publicized in a press conference held on Wednesday July 29, 2026 at McDuffy Park in which our CEO, Stoyka, joined, Sheffield, leadership from the of Detroit's HRD team, and the Neighborhood Service Organization (NSO) to celebrate the event.

Take a look for yourselves -

Meet Mr. White. Mr. White entered Community & Home Supports’ PHS Leasing Program in March 2026, he had been living in his car for more than two years after experiencing a series of personal hardships.

With the guidance and unwavering support of his CHS Case Manager, Mrs. Baichoo, Mr. White was safely housed within just one week! It doesn’t stop there, he committed himself to rebuilding his life, reconnecting with medical and mental health care, participating in CHS life skills and workforce development classes, developing the tools needed to maintain long-term stability. After attending CHS Life-Skills Workforce Development Class, his hard work paid off!

Mr. White secured full-time employment with American Axle & Manufacturing, where his dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic have already positioned him for potential career advancement.
