Every Detroiter deserves a comfortable, accessible home. 🏠♿🌳

In 2025, we teamed up with the City of Detroit Housing & Revitalization Department to create seven free housing resources. Here’s a preview of our know your rights guide for renters with disabilities. It outlines legal protections, accommodation processes, and complaint procedures for residents with disabilities. It’s also available in large print.

What are your renting rights?

🔺Housing providers are not allowed to discriminate against you because of a disability.
🔺You can ask your housing provider to add accessible features to your home, such as a ramp or grab bars.
🔺You can ask your provider to change their policies to make it easier to live in your home, such as allowing assistance animals.
🔺You should not face any punishment for standing up for your rights.
🔺You can share a letter about your needs from a social worker, service provider, or doctor.
🔺Housing providers CANNOT ask you to reveal your specific diagnosis.

🔗 Download the guide and find our other free housing resources at www.detroitdisabilitypower.org/consulting OR in our bio!

JOIN OUR TEAM for a good time, not a long time! 😎 We’re looking for a Field Coordinator to help lead our Get Out the Vote and Election Protection efforts this year! The position is a contract role from June - November. The ideal candidate is seasoned and ready to hit the ground rolling ♿️ ➡ 🗳️ This election cycle in Michigan defines the fate of the next generation. Yeah, it’s another history-defining vote. We’re not letting our state get worse for disabled people, immigrants, and trans youth – not without a fight! So we’re knocking doors, calling households, and defending our polls 😤 For both the primaries and the general election in November. Apply or share widely! Thanks ♡
