This is what culture, connection, and community look like.

From 7:30 in the morning until the end, so many shifts of firefighters came through that we could not capture everyone in one large group photo when the work was done. But you know who you are, and you are greatly appreciated. Your time and effort did not go unnoticed.

We are proud of our brothers, proud of our Phoenix members, and grateful for every volunteer who donated time, hands, energy, and help to bring this vision to fruition.

The Beatty Breezeway will create a welcoming outdoor space for firefighter fellowship, youth engagement, community outreach, and gatherings that keep us connected.

Next up, we will add lights, curtains, and action!

Firefighters matter, not just on the fireground, but in the fellowship, the work, the service, and the legacy we continue to build together.

The guys don’t play, they came to slay! Gazebo Build Day is officially underway at Historic Engine 11, and this is what brotherhood, teamwork, and Phoenix pride look like in action. Coming together for the collective good, one piece at a time, we are building a new outdoor space rooted in culture, connection, and community. Once it is fully erected and complete, a special dedication will follow. Stay tuned, progress is happening!

“You can’t lead an orchestra unless you turn your back to the crowd.”

Today, FIREFIGHTER CASEY FOREN did exactly that.

Although this moment was meant to honor her as the 2026 DFD Woman of the Year, she chose to use her platform to speak for others. She stood before the room and turned the spotlight toward the pain, despair, and very real challenges firefighters continue to face, including the fight of Captain Dan Schaecher, who is battling stage 4 brain cancer after 30 years of dedicated service.

That is leadership.
That is courage.
That is sacrifice.

Firefighters put others before themselves every single day, and today, she reminded everyone what that looks like beyond the fireground🔥

From the Phoenix of the Detroit Fire Department, we do not just applaud her. We salute her🫡

And we take a bow as we stand in reverence for a woman who used her moment to speak for others💪🏾

The Phoenix of the Detroit Fire Department proudly congratulates Firefighter Reginald Street on being recognized during National EMS Week for his role in a life-saving emergency response.

Moments like this remind us why the work of Project 100 matters. It is not just about helping individuals enter the fire service. It is about helping prepare people who will show up, serve with purpose, and make a real difference in the lives of Detroit residents.

Firefighter Street continues to represent Phoenix with humility, dedication, and excellence. We are proud of the man he is, proud of the work he is doing, and proud to see him recognized for service that truly matters.

Congratulations, Reginald. Keep making Phoenix proud.

Today, the Phoenix of the Detroit Fire Department proudly witnessed several of our Project 100 candidates cross the stage, receive their badges, and officially become Detroit firefighters.

This moment is the result of hard work, discipline, perseverance, and commitment. They completed the requirements, proved themselves ready to serve, and most importantly, they have shown themselves to be good human beings. That means a great deal.

Through Project 100, our mission is simple: reach one, teach one, prepare one, and help open the door for the next generation of firefighters.

To Detroit’s newest firefighters, congratulations and job well done. Welcome to this proud brotherhood and sisterhood of service.

This is only the beginning. Once Phoenix, always Phoenix. We are with you forever.
