Did you know:

- The Board of Police Commissioners is one of 11 boards within Detroit City Government? The City also has 13 commissions. See all 11 boards at https://detroitmi.gov/government/boards

- The 2012 City Charter gives the Board "supervisory control and oversight" of DPD, with duties that include consulting with the Police Chief -- and having the Mayor's approval -- to establish DPD policy and procedures? It also requires Board review and approval of the DPD budget before it goes to the Mayor for inclusion with the annual budget approved by City Council. - Since its creation by the 1974 City Charter, the Board has met weekly -- except for holidays, training and the Covid pandemic -- for 52 years!
