Congratulations to Saundra Little, FAIA, this year's AIA Detroit 2026 Gold Medal Award Recipient!

Saundra is a force in the industry and Principal + Director of Diversity and Inclusion at Quinn Evans. Through cultural, institutional, educational, and commercial projects, Saundra has championed revitalization and adaptive reuse while respecting the unique architectural heritage of local communities. Her work has helped renew, uplift, and sustain vulnerable neighborhoods across Detroit.

Her impact extends far beyond her built work. As a founding member of National Organization of Minority Architects Detroit Chapter - NOMAD and co-founder of Noir Design Parti, Saundra has dedicated herself to mentorship, fellowship, and creating greater visibility and opportunity for Black architects and young people entering the profession.

AIA Detroit is proud to announce Noah Resnick, AIA, as the recipient of this year’s Charles Blessing Award!

Noah currently teaches and practices in the city of Detroit and operates under the interrelated concepts of the architectonics of multiple scales; the architect as urban collaborator; and the architect as community builder. He is also a recent recipient of the AIA Michigan President’s Award, recognizing “outstanding contributions to the advancement of the built environment”.

Applications for MAF’s Fellows Fund for Equity Grant close in one month!

The Fellows Fund for Equity (F2E) is a grant for recently licensed Black, Hispanic, Native American (and other individuals from underrepresented groups) architects who are actively practicing architecture.

The grant is intended to help reduce remaining student debt and/or as reimbursement for expenses associated with licensing exams, while awarding performance, creativity and perseverance.

The grant for 2026 will be $5,000, plus one year of mentorship.

Applications are due by September 15!
