Red River County has extended the Burn Ban for 30 days. The Burn Ban will now continue until April 22, 2026. Please avoid ANY outdoor burning through this week, as the fire danger is listed as extremely high. DVFD appreciates everything the people of our fire district do to help prevent wild fires.

Today Monday, 3/16/2026 the fire danger is very high. Please refrain from any and all outdoor burning. High winds (in excess of 20 mph) and low humidity levels make outdoor burning very dangerous. DVFD appreciates your help in keeping people and their property safe.

High winds and low humidity are predicted for today, Saturday, 2/21 and for Sunday, 2/22. We have an elevated fire danger! Please do NOT burn outside! The firefighters of DVFD appreciate your help.

Even though the sun is shining, temperatures remain well below freezing. Please continue to avoid traveling unless absolutely necessary. Make sure you're destination is open before leaving since many businesses remain closed.

During this winter storm, if at all possible, please stay where you are. DVFD, TxDot, the and Sheriff's Department have been out this morning. The roads are not safe. We have already responded to accidents. So PLEASE STAY HOME! This is expected to last until the temperatures warm up on Tuesday.
