I think one of the biggest misconceptions about storytelling is the idea that every story has to be universally relatable in order to have value.
Sometimes the power of a story is that it was made for someone who rarely gets to see themselves reflected at all.
That's actually what made Starfleet Academy interesting to me.
Its authenticity may have also been the thing that made some audiences disconnect from it. But that doesn't mean the stories shouldn't exist. If anything, that's why we should continue supporting them.
