Mayor Sheffield and City buildings officials announced a new 5-point plan to bring thousands more 1–2 family rental homes up to code and help ensure Detroiters have access to safe, quality housing.

The plan includes better tracking and enforcement, dedicated inspectors, more support for landlords, and a 24/7 online system for tenants to report serious rental housing issues.

The City’s goal is to increase rental compliance from 14% to 25% within the next year, building on the success of its senior apartment compliance effort.

A life saved and a birthday worth celebrating. ❤️

Leighton Kirkpatrick celebrated his 80th birthday alongside the bystanders and Detroit Fire Department crews who helped save his life, not once, but twice after he suffered multiple cardiac arrests on Christmas Eve at One Campus Martius.

Their quick response, including CPR and the use of an AED, helped give Leighton another birthday to celebrate.

-Rides to Rise will continue offering free transportation for K-12 students 🚍

-Back to school immunizations, vision and hearing screenings are available through the Detroit Health Department 🏥

Detroit property owners who qualify for the city’s HOPE program are eligible for the Wayne County Pay As You Stay (PAYS) program, which reduces delinquent past property taxes and has helped prevent foreclosure for thousands of Detroit property owners.
