Walk a Mile Wednesday is about more than walking, it’s about connection, inspiration, and showing up for one another.

Mayor Sheffield, Chief Bettison, community leaders, and partners spent time connecting directly with Detroit youth and families through meaningful conversations, mentorship, encouragement, and providing resources designed to uplift and empower.

Sometimes one conversation, one connection, or one moment of support can inspire someone to think bigger and rise higher.

Let us be clear: Detroit will enforce the law, uphold curfews, and hold violent offenders accountable because safe neighborhoods are non-negotiable.

Individuals who bring guns, incite violence, disrupt public spaces, or engage in disorderly or criminal behavior will be held fully accountable.

At the same time, we are continuing to invest in a safe summer for Detroit’s youth through Occupy the Summer, expanded programming, and late night recreation spaces that provide positive outlets, community, and support.
