We had our first Sustainability Tour for City of Detroit Employees 🌱 We boarded a Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) EV bus to visit 4 incredible organizations working to make Detroit a more green, sustainable, resilient city! Stop #1 Zero Net Energy Center, training electricians in the future of renewable energy technology ⚡️ Stop #2 Detroit People’s Food Co-op to see the Office of Sustainability Aerobic Digester, supporting 200+ Detroit residents in turning their food scraps to compost! 🍃🍂 Stop #3 Oakland Avenue Urban Farm ensuring food sovereignty and resilience for the Northend 🍅🥬 Stop #4 Peaches and Greens creating food access and equitable community development 🍊🥤 This tour allowed City Department employees to learn directly from community and how important sustainability initiatives are for the future of our City!

Had to hop on the trend 😆

Last week the office of Sustainability joined and DPW for their recycling audit at the MRF (The Recycling Authority) where our materials are processed! We manually sorted almost 2500lbs in order to ensure quality and provide education gaps when needed!

Some popular contaminants to avoid:
🚫 No Plastic Film
🚫 No Electronics/E-Waste
🚫 No mixed material items
