The outbreak-related recommendation for an early MMR dose for infants ages 6–11 months has ended.
During the recommendation period, Michigan families stepped up: 2,371 early MMR doses were given to infants 6–11 months in counties at risk for community transmission, a 210% increase compared to the same time last year.
That helped protect babies during the measles outbreak. The best protection now is to make sure children stay up to date on routine vaccines, including MMR. Families with questions should talk with their child’s pediatrician or contact the Detroit Health Department.
