Dr. Alescia Farr is the newly appointed Deputy Director of Public Health for the Detroit Health Department. A Detroit native, Dr. Farr has proudly served her hometown as a city civil servant since 2020, previously holding roles as HIV Care Manager and Workforce Development Director with the Detroit Health Department. She brings over ten years of public health experience spanning non-profit organizations, hospital systems, and government agencies. Dr. Farr specializes in strategic planning, continuous quality improvement, and community-based participatory action. She holds a Ph.D. in Community Psychology from DePaul University, an M.P.H. in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of Michigan, and a B.S. in Social Sciences – Health Studies from Michigan State University.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Farr on her appointment as Deputy Director of Public Health! We look forward to her continued leadership and impact at the Detroit Health Department.
