Our community-based fire company began as a nonprofit fire department in June of 2006 but our roots go back to the late 90s when local community members battled a blaze and created the first t-shirt. The BFD, as it's affectionately known, has 15-30 active members who volunteer as firefighters, search and rescue team members, vehicle mechanics, and board members. We serve two small mountain communi

ties and the surrounding Breitenbush area. Prevention is our primary focus - maintaining readiness of vehicles, equipment, and skills.
