Detroit Public Schools Community District will implement a three-hour early release on Tuesday, Sept. 1, and Wednesday, Sept. 2, due to expected high temperatures. Afternoon Career Technical Education classes are canceled both days. Decisions regarding after-school programs and athletics will be made by each school.

The Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) is expanding its "Perfect Attendance Pays" program for the 2026-27 school year to include middle school students in grades 6 through 8, who can earn $50 per week, while high school students continue to receive $100 weekly for perfect attendance. The district allocated $13.9 million within its $1.1 billion budget to combat chronic absenteeism.
